Dear friend
We wish you all a blessed year. Metro Kids Africa (MKA) has started the year well with James and Janet joining the South African team in January and part of February. It is encouraging for all of us to be together as we prepare for the year ahead.
We are pleased to report that our Christmas Appeal went well with generous donations given by so many! This means we can go ahead with the camp for our teenage leaders. MKA was given £27,750/ $35,310 for the Christmas Appeal.
Thank you to all for your generosity in giving. We have amazing supporters!
The camp is in September which seems a long way away, but that is what worked out best with the school holidays. Approximately 80 teenagers will attend and during the day we will have team building exercises led by the camp staff and on an evening input from the MKA staff team. In the past, many of the young people have found the camps to be valuable for their personal growth.
Thanks to your generous giving there will be excess finances and we will use part of these for a holiday club in the winter school holidays in July. This will gather approximately 800 children, ages 4-13 years old, daily from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm. The programme will be full of games, songs, teamwork and Bible teaching as well as providing each of the children with a hot cooked meal.
As well as these projects, we have our normal after-school programmes in South Africa and all the school lessons we do with our amazing team in Uganda. We ask that you pray for safety for all the staff and for God’s blessing on all we do. As we have met together in South Africa, we have been reminded of the vision MKA has of “helping children create a better future” through a relationship with Jesus and we pray that every child who is part of MKA will grow in their faith and become followers of Jesus.
Thank you for being part of MKA.
James, Janet and all
